Full Hands
The clerk glanced up and smiled to see
our little ones in tow,
Said, "Dad, looks like your hands are full!"
when we had turned to go.
Those words, so lightly uttered,
have been rolling through my mind.
We cannot help but wonder at
impressions left behind.
Our hands are full -yes, thanks to God!
He has so richly blessed
and given to our happy home
these babes, to fill the nest.
Such precious souls, to guide aright
in paths of peace and love!
Such little lives, to guard from sin,
and teach of heaven above!
Full hands- as caring for our brood,
we wipe away a tear,
Or give a gentle hug and kiss
and turn a listening ear.
Children take time, who could dene?
the hours haste away,
and every one indeed was full
at ending of the day.
Full hands- yes, full of heaven's gifts!
What could with this compare?
Full lives and overflowing hearts
and yet there's room to spare,
Oh, who, confronted with a choice,
would turn their back on this
and wish for empty hearts and homes?
how much, how much they miss!
